From her love of the northwest lakes and the wildlife found by their shores, came Maria’s idea to combine her artistic talents with cartographic prints. Using maps of the lakes that she and her husband produce, she applies acrylic washes to give them their aged appearance and uses these as a background for her warm and wonderful representations. From a sailboat to a dock scene, from an eagle to a moose, all the images are inspired by these beautiful lakes with which she fell in love as a nine year old girl. Maria has been known literally to paint the town of Sandpoint through the windows of many local stores during the holiday season. Enjoy nature, enjoy these magnificent lakes and enjoy the vision and artistry through the eyes of Maria Larson.
Maria and her husband, Lars, reside in North Idaho overlooking beautiful Lake Pend Oreille. Her work can be viewed in person in Sandpoint at Northwest Handmade Furniture and the Angel Gallery in Coeur d’ Alene.
